I want to thank the gracious hosts of the Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Supply Show of the Southeast for a great show! This was the 38th installment of this Myrtle Beach show and was held in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Jan. 28-30 2014.
The show ended up being great but I have to admit, it had its challenges. The fun began a week before the show when the media began hyping up a storm that was coming directly toward Myrtle Beach and was supposed to dump more snow and ice in the area than had been seen in 10 years. Sure enough the storm came in force early Jan. 28th, the opening morning of the show!
The whole town was shut down by the 29th at dinner time. This weather significantly impacted show attendance which is unfortunate because their were many great products on display!

Fortunately, the Hotel and Restaurant industries are so strong in the area, local businesses sent many representatives and made up for those who could not risk out of state travel. There were still some brave souls who traveled great distances to get to the show and I admired there gumption! I met several people from California who were surprised to see such drastic winter conditions in Myrtle Beach. I assured them that the conditions were not normal, as Myrtle Beach averages about .3 inches of snow in January.
Despite the weather the Cozy Mattress® team still had a great show and came away with some wonderful contacts from decision makers in the Hospitality and Manufacturing industry who were amazed by our revolutionary Sleeper System. At one point we had a manufacturer come up to us and say “I dont know what you guys are putting in the water, but countless people are telling me they like my furniture, but want it to have a Cozy Mattress® mechanism and mattress on the inside! I told him: “We dont put anything in the water. We dont have to. We have completely upgraded and revolutionized the sleeper sofa and when people see it they are blown away!” He then sat on the sofa and laid on the mattress and agreed!
We had a lot of fun getting to know many in the industry. To add to the excitement we held a contest drawing for 3 iPad minis! Congratulations to all the winners!
